AzerbaijanA reliable partner

  • Azerbaijan has led CIS countries in terms of GDP growth and other indices for some years. The country has immense potential for generic market development due to favorable natural conditions, investment opportunities and state policies concentrated on intensively supporting non-oil sector development.
  • According to UN forecasts, Azerbaijan will continue leading the CIS in 2010 as the country with the most dynamic economic development. GDP growth hit 6.1% in Azerbaijan in 2009 on the backdrop of a slumping GDP in the CIS as a whole.
  • Azerbaijan was admitted as the number-one reformer among 181 countries, according to the World Bank Doing Business Report 2009.

Food industry projects in Azerbaijan

  • The Azerbaijan Investment Company and the EBRD invested $5.4 million in the dairy industry. The project's cost totaled $12.2 million. The organizations are developing a new factory and milk-processing facility, and have also started reconstructing an older plant.
  • Plans include putting into operation a white salt production factory. Its output is 60,000 tons annually.
  • A major company spent 40,000 000 euro on constructing a new farm, a package production factory and an ice-cream production factory.
  • The Azerbaijan Investment Company is investing $15 million in poultry farming. Capital investments permit the reconstruction of 14 farms and the installation of modern equipments.

  • It is estimated that 70% of Muslims worldwide follow halal food standards, and that the global halal market is currently a $580 billion USD industry.
  • 95% population of Azerbaijan is Muslim. During the period of countrys independence there is increasing attention from population to the consumption of Halal products. Large number of specialized Halal companies was established.
  • In spite of huge growth of enterprises in this sector, production doesnt cover growing demand.
  • On results of the first eleven months of 2009 Azerbaijan leads among CIS countries on the rates of GDP growth. For indicated period GDP of Azerbaijan increased on 9,3%.
